Operating across seven states in the U.S., Teach Coalition advocates for equitable government funding and resources for yeshivas and Jewish day schools, making Jewish education accessible to all families.
The Orthodox Union (OU) is the largest Orthodox Jewish organization in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.
Job Description: The Executive Director of Teach NYS will manage policy, political relationships, community engagement, and mobilization of the New York Jewish day school and yeshivot community. The Director will serve as the “face” of the organization.
Essential Functions:
Manage and implement logistics and marketing of programs such as board meetings, forums, briefings, and advocacy training sessions, grassroots advocacy campaigns, rallies, missions, and synagogue programs
Responsible for initiating and monitoring key legislation and advocacy
Recruit lay leaders and train them on how to be effective grassroots advocates
Increase education and activism among synagogue and day school leadership and congregants through programming at the local and regional levels
Hold regular meetings with elected officials, school leadership, and community members
Travel to local school offices, elected official offices, and Albany as needed
Represent and be the “face” of this initiative via public speaking and appearances at synagogue, day school, and regional events
Communicate messaging, talking points, and Action Alerts to the community through a web platform.
Manage all New York-based staff
This is a full-time position
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience; fundraising, management, public policy, government, and community relations experience preferred.

Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally for various audiences
Experience conducting meetings, making presentations, and facilitating communications clearly and positively
Proficient in logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and approaches
You Have:
An engaging personality, strong interpersonal skills, determination, resiliency, and a positive attitude
Experience or interest in fundraising and sales
Strong desire to actively help others
Ties to the Jewish community and schools
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position is between $125,000 and $150,000, commensurate with experience.
