Our challenge
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative team, supporting our initiatives in Investment Banking and Generative AI (Gen AI). The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions tailored to complex financial systems and AI applications.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within New York, NY is $140k - $160k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities: Collaborate with business analysts and business users to understand technical specifications and business requirements. Develop and optimize data pipelines, models, and schemas using Python, SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, and other modern tools. Design data architecture to support data integration, analysis, and machine learning workflows. Implement data quality checks, validation procedures, and data governance standards to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Execute Unit Testing (UT) and System Integration Testing (SIT) with business analysts to ensure high-quality deliverables. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business teams. Maintain and support production data platforms, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance. Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement of data systems. Requirements:
Approximately 15+ years of experience in the IT industry, with a focus on data engineering. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams and stakeholders. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC processes. Proven experience in designing and implementing data architecture and solutions. Experience working in global delivery models (onshore/offshore/nearshore). Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail. Self-driven, collaborative, and capable of working with minimal guidance. Proficiency in Python and SQL programming. Experience with relational databases (SQL Server) and data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Azure Databricks). Knowledge of ETL processes, scheduling tools (Autosys, Control-M), and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with data validation, quality checks, and data governance. Preferred, but not required:
Experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing. Prior experience working with financial systems, capital markets, credit risk, or regulatory applications. In-depth understanding of financial data, reporting, and analytics in an investment banking context. We offer:
