Our client is a national leader in the renewable energy and environmental services sector, backed by a major global infrastructure investor, and is rapidly expanding its footprint across the U.S. through its innovative renewable fuels Technology. The Technical Director will be a key member of the newly formed Innovation & Transformation team, overseeing the design, integration, and optimization of advanced Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) technologies. This will include full lifecycle support from feedstock evaluation and anaerobic digestion to biogas upgrading, compliance, and emissions control. You will combine strategic vision with deep technical expertise to drive innovation, support project delivery, and ensure all systems operate to the highest performance and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities • Evaluate and deploy emerging RNG and biogas technologies across multiple sites. • Oversee integration of anaerobic digestion systems, gas upgrading, and pipeline injection. • Lead selection and implementation of digestate treatment systems, including nutrient recovery and land application strategies. • Support technology reviews, feedstock characterization, and process flow development. • Provide expert technical input through project planning, commissioning, and operational phases. • Ensure compliance with LCFS, RFS, EPA, and other environmental standards. • Work cross-functionally with development, EPC, and O&M teams to ensure successful project outcomes. • Build partnerships with third-party technology providers, utilities, and regulators. • Represent the company in technical forums, industry working groups, and client engagements. To perform this role successfully, you will need a minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering with direct involvement in RNG, biogas, or renewable energy projects. You will also need demonstrable experience in anaerobic digestion, gas purification, nutrient recovery, and the ability to interpret complex compliance frameworks and apply them to practical project execution.
