This position reports to: R&D Team Manager ABB is a pioneering technology leader in motors and drives, which are integral to everyday life. Our drives offering is the most comprehensive in the industry. We are currently seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test for System Drives. As part of the R&D Special Applications team based in Krakow, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining testing frameworks and build infrastructure for a complete embedded software platform. You will collaborate with control experts on modularization and migration of software features, define maintenance strategies, and establish best practices for high power medium voltage drives projects. Main responsibilities include: Ownership of platform testing framework for ABB Medium Voltage Drives portfolio, from concept to development and maintenance. Modularization and migration of software features to new platform with control experts. Defining and supporting best practices for platform maintenance, including CI/CD infrastructure. Collaborating with local and global engineering and R&D teams on special applications projects. Conducting Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations of power electronics converters. Preparing software packages and technical documentation. Occasional international travel to R&D centers, production sites, and customers. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Engineering, Automatics, Robotics, or related fields. Expertise in testing framework development using Python, Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, and CI/CD. Experience in C++ development for embedded applications. Knowledge of electrical circuits and control theory. Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink (Model-Based Design) is a plus. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. We value diversity.
