The Staff Development Coordinator plans, organizes, coordinates, executes and evaluates the continuing education and staff development programs designed to improve the quality of care of all residents in the Maine Veterans' Homes. This position also manages the Home's Health and Safety Program.
Job-related responsibilities include:
- Implement and document continuing education programs based on identified needs, regulation or policy, including programs conducted by MVH and outside professionals.
- Plan, develop, and implement assessment processes and tools needed to identify individual, departmental, and facility development and continuing education needs.
- Provide ample opportunity for all staff to attend mandatory annual in-service programs.
- Administer Staff Injury Risk Management Program according to policy and applicable regulatory requirements. Act as case manager for employee injuries.
- Support and implement MVHA policies, review/analyze as needed.
- Complete all administrative and reporting responsibilities of the position in an accurate and timely manner.
- Degree from an accredited nursing program required
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid and current RN license by the Maine State Board of Nursing
- Requires proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to understand and respond to residents' needs and inquiries in English is required.
- Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
