Job Description Job Title: Radiation Therapist Profession: Radiation Therapist Specialty: Oncology Radiation Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: State License for Radiation Therapy Certifications: BLS, ARRT certification
Must-Have: - BLS certification - ARRT certification - State License for Radiation Therapy - Experience with linear accelerator for cancer patients - Highly preferred to have simulation experience
Description: Department: Oncology Radiation Therapy. Certifications required: BLS and ARRT certification. A State License for Radiation Therapy is necessary. The unit has 1 Linear Accelerator (Elekta) and 1 CT for planning (Philips). Staff will be involved in simulations and CT planning. Common types of imaging/studies include IMRT, SBRT, and various cancer scans. Daily average number of scans/studies ranges from 15-25. Electronic medical records system utilized is Mosaiq, and Pinnacle is used for planning. The department specific equipment includes a Philips CT and Elekta Linear Accelerator. Radiologist is in-house during the daytime. Radiation RN is responsible for starting IVs. Knowledge of how to set tattoos or willingness to learn is essential. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM. Fridays have a modified schedule of 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. No weekend or holiday requirements. There is no call or standby requirement. Any color scrubs may be worn. Department specific orientation lasts 5-7 days.
