Join Our Team as a Driver Are you a dependable and safety-conscious individual with a passion for helping others? Elderwood is seeking a dedicated Driver to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our residents. Position Overview: As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical facilities, ensuring their comfort and security throughout the journey. Key responsibilities include: Transporting new admissions from hospitals to Elderwood facilities or other care centers. Safely driving medically stable residents to medical appointments and treatment locations. Assisting with loading and unloading residents, including those who are wheelchair-bound or have mobility challenges. What We're Looking For: Strong commitment to resident safety and comfort. Ability to drive and work in all conditions. Ability to carry and load baggage and medical equipment. Ability to physically load wheelchair clients and properly operate safety equipment. Ability to operate a full size cargo van and small shuttle bus. Ability to assist wheelchair bound and transit disabled passengers. Possession and maintenance of a medical certification card. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Vision requirements include ability to see up close, at a distance, peripheral and depth perception. Ability to move and walk quickly and steadily in an emergency situation. Ability to assist with wheelchair transport. Ability to apply/utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Drive responsibly and safely. Ensure vehicle is in safe operating condition. Comply with all State Vehicle and Traffic Laws. Ensure passengers are safely assisted and secured in the vehicle. Ensure safe transport of resident, personal belongings, and medical equipment. Notify family member or contact of new resident transfer. Notify the pick-up and destination location of the time of arrival. Maintain a clean, neat appearance. Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services. Qualifications: Twenty-one (21) years of age required. High school diploma or equivalency preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience in a driving related position. Valid state driver license with proper class/endorsement. Clean driving record with no violations and no accidents in the previous 36 months. Knowledge of local roadways and directions. Knowledge of fleet vehicles and all handicap equipment. Understanding of the rights and needs of transit disabled passengers. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
