The Software Engineer designs, develops, and tests software applications and products. Additionally, the Software Engineer manages software development teams, provides technical leadership, and establishes software development lifecycle practices and processes. The Software Engineer is proficient in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, Ruby, Python, Scala, and Groovy. In this role, the Software Engineer requires extensive knowledge of programming languages, software development, computer operating systems, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI / CD), DevOps, API development, container development, and distributed systems. The Software Engineer applies engineering principles to software creation, manages production releases, performs code reviews, merges feature branches, and analyzes issues. Key responsibilities include software development, debugging, modification, and documentation; designing, testing, and developing software; maintaining kernel and user-level software; and contributing to research reports and technical presentations. Additional responsibilities involve developing military application software, data analysis tools, integrating system products, collaborating with Systems Engineers, and ensuring compliance with military, safety, and security standards. Minimum qualifications require experience in developing Windows desktop applications. Preferred qualifications include an active Secret Clearance, experience with C# WPF or WinForms, proficiency in multiple programming languages and tools such as Git, and the ability to travel 10-25%. The position is open-rank, with final offers based on qualifications, requiring a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or no experience with a Master's degree in a relevant technical field. Due to federal research contracts, candidates must be U.S. Citizens and able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
