AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic, detail-oriented self-starter to join our team in Orlando, Florida as a Sr. Highway Designer, supporting Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area). This position offers career growth opportunities through engagement with FTE toll road infrastructure projects, including intersection improvements, interchange reconfigurations, and facility widening projects. The ideal candidate will have a broad highway engineering background, with experience in tolling or limited access roadway projects preferred. Willingness to be a team player is essential. Relocation assistance is available. We respond to the most challenging projects and support the transition to a low-carbon economy. How will you contribute to the team? Preparing preliminary improvement alternatives and drawings, including roadway plans, cross sections, profiles, safety treatments, tolling layouts, etc., as per project requirements. Researching and recommending alternative design approaches based on client requests and codes. Performing and supervising CAD-based designs. Organizing or conducting field visits for data collection or resolving design conflicts. Collaborating closely with the Concept Project Manager. Working full-time in the client’s office with effective communication skills. Working well in a team environment. Managing multiple projects and schedules efficiently. Traveling as needed for project support, including overnight stays. What will you contribute? An Associate's degree with at least 10 years of progressive drafting and design experience, including 7 years as a Designer, or a high school diploma with 15 years of experience, including 10 as a Designer. Experience with toll facility or limited access projects is a plus. Familiarity with FDOT policies, the Florida Design Manual, FDOT Standard Plans, and AASHTO design criteria. Strong geometric design skills for various roadway types. GEC experience is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, MicroStation, and OpenRoads Designer. Excellent English communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. No professional registration required.
