The Safety Monitor supports the instructional environment by promoting the welfare and security of students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include identifying and addressing safety concerns, enforcing school rules and policies, responding to inquiries, and providing emergency assistance as needed.
This is a 10-month position with summers off. Full-time Safety Monitors are eligible for the benefits listed below:

Hours
Monday through Friday Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Pay
$19.90 - $24.97 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Job Duties
Delivers messages and communicates safety policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors to support clear communication, understanding, and compliance. Confers with teachers and staff to assist in evaluating student behavior and making referrals. Prepares reports and documentation (e.g., incident logs, procedures) to record and communicate security-related activities. Demonstrates classroom or subject-specific tasks to support effective instruction and address student needs. Operates security system cameras to monitor and ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Escorts students, staff, and visitors (e.g., between facilities or buildings) to maintain overall site security. Interacts regularly with students and monitors their behavior to promote safety, build positive relationships, and maintain a productive learning environment. Oversees student behavior during transitions, assigned periods, and events (e.g., sports, tournaments) to ensure compliance with rules and maintain order. Participates as a crisis team member to support the safety of students, staff, and families during emergencies. Manages traffic and parking control-including designing traffic patterns-and patrols school facilities (e.g., buildings, grounds, parking lots) to ensure safety, maintain security, and deter criminal activity. Responds to security-related inquiries and incidents (e.g., accidents, vandalism, campus crimes) involving students, managing conflicts, contacting authorities, and referring to outside agencies as needed to ensure safety and resolution. Testifies in court proceedings as needed to provide information about alleged illegal activities. Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent Substitute Certificate (required prior to start date). (In order to get a sub certificate, you must have 36 college credit hours or complete a DESE approved 20 hour substitute certificate course.)
