Technology Program Coordinator
The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technology Program Coordinator to lead critical programs for the agency in coordination with the Department of Administration's State Information Technology Services Division (SITSD). In this multifaceted role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the continuity of vital state services during emergencies, driving enterprise-level IT compliance and security, and leading data and records stewardship strategies to modernize how we manage and protect critical information. It's an opportunity to make a lasting impact by shaping technology governance.
As the Technology Program Coordinator, you will oversee and evolve four strategic programs: Business Continuity, Records Management, IT Compliance, and Data Management. Your leadership will ensure FWP remains resilient through crisis planning, compliant with evolving IT mandates, and efficient in handling public records and data assets securely. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, executive leadership, and state-wide partners to forge best practices, deliver impactful training, and influence key policy decisions.
The Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in public sector IT, a commitment to excellence in service delivery, and a passion for making technology work for people and our recreational resources alike. They should possess advanced knowledge of government operations, IT compliance, security methodologies, and records and data management principles. Superior communication and negotiation abilities are essential, allowing them to effectively explain technical information to a variety of audiences and build consensus among diverse stakeholders. Strong organizational and multitasking skills will help the candidate successfully prioritize projects and meet deadlines, even in high-pressure situations.
Key attributes also include a demonstrated capacity for teamwork, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to continual professional development. The ideal candidate will excel at problem solving, using logic, common sense, and sound judgment to develop innovative solutions. Adaptability, personal accountability, and a dedication to public service are fundamental, along with the ability to foster trust and credibility in all working relationships.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a bachelor's degree in technology, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field, complemented by a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in information technology or in a program management role with substantial reliance on IT for service delivery. Candidates should demonstrate direct responsibility for Information Technology within an IT organization or possess proven experience as a program manager developing and implementing complex organizational capabilities in a service-oriented environment. Preference will be given to those with educational coursework and experience in information technology, business, government continuity of operations, data management, or disaster recovery programs. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
