Overview
Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
Senior Electrical Engineer will be required to review existing industrial power systems and determine if capital expansion projects can be supported. Need to coordinate power usage studies and prepare load studies.
Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design and supervision of electrical power and controls bid package drawings. Drawings will include 480VAC and 120VAC single line diagrams and electrical power and control plan layouts.
Prepare electrical and controls scopes of work documents for bid packages.
Senior Electrical Engineer will need to coordinate with local utility for power service, transformer and substation upgrades. Specify transformers, conductors, busway, switchgear and circuit breakers.
Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the review and approval of new equipment electrical requirements. Requirements to be reviewed include power load, circuit breaker sizing, data communication, ethernet, grounding, machine safety, etc. Cobalt typically works with third party PLC programmers and control panel designers for I/O drawing preparation and panel design and fabrication.
Electrical Engineer will be responsible for review and approval of I/O drawings, control panel and VFD panel approvals.
Senior Electrical Engineer will need to be familiar with machine safety categories and assist with machine safety audits. We typically work with third party machine safety partners.
- Senior Electrical Engineer will need to be familiar and have a working knowledge of the following:
- NEC and industrial installations.
- Gather information for arc flash studies. The study is typically done by others.
- PLC programming basics.
- VFD's, HMI's, PLC types, I/O card types, Remote I/O modules.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 8+ years of relevant design
- Project management/Construction management experience would be preferred.
- Strong leadership and people skills are a must.
- Experience in AutoCAD is a plus.
- Ability to travel 20-30% travel.
