Senior Cloud Security Engineer
for a hybrid 12+ months renewable contract in
Columbia, SC . Role: Senior Cloud Security Engineer
Scope of the Project
The Senior Cloud Security Engineer will work with Product Owners, Applications Owners, Network and Security teams to design and implement cloud solutions for large-scale applications and infrastructure. The candidate should be proficient in both public and hybrid cloud environments, with strong consulting skills and the ability to interpret customer needs into technical solutions. This role is hands-on, involving active participation in security solution deployment and execution. It is not a developer position. Daily Duties / Responsibilities
Design and deploy highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure and applications in AWS and Azure. Develop automation for cloud security accelerators and intellectual property. Collaborate with Security Operations teams to maintain SIEM, SOAR, and XDR technologies. Analyze and resolve configuration issues across development, testing, and production environments. Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as NIST, HIPAA, PII, SOX, PCI, CMMC, CUI, etc., through effective monitoring, logging, and auditing. Implement secure (zero trust) cloud infrastructure. Security experience with state and local government clients. Willingness to travel as needed for client engagements. Required Skills (ranked by importance)
5-10 years of experience in Information Security and Engineering. Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure in AWS/Azure. Expertise in cloud security design, operations, and automation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience documenting security tools, deployment configurations, incident reports, etc. Preferred Skills
Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Firewalls in AWS and Azure. Knowledge of Prisma Cloud, Forescout, Cisco Umbrella, F5 Load Balancing/Firewalls. Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Must hold AWS or Azure certification. Preferred Certifications
CISSP, ISSP, SC100, AWS Certified Cloud Solutions Architect, Prisma Cloud Certified Security Engineer, PCNSA, PCNSE. About Vector
