Cloud / Platform Engineering Manager - Hybrid in Boston, MA

Were seeking a technically strong and motivated Cloud / Platform Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing team focused on building and scaling cloud infrastructure. This is a hands on role combining cloud platforms, automation, and Kubernetes with strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of platform engineers. Drive performance, collaboration, and continuous development. Cloud Architecture: Oversee design and implementation of secure, scalable infrastructure, primarily in AWS. Define standards and ensure technical best practices. Automation & IaC: Lead efforts using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows. Kubernetes Management: Maintain and optimize Kubernetes environments. Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure performance and reliability. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to align cloud solutions with business needs. Security & Compliance: Enforce best practices in cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery. Proactively identify and mitigate risks. Incident Response: Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues. Lead troubleshooting and post-mortem analysis. Innovation: Stay current on trends and tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability. Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering; 2+ years in a leadership role. Deep experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, IAM, VPC), Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes. Proven success deploying and managing cloud infrastructure at scale. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, Argo CD, or GitHub Actions. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer). Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog). Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.
