CalPERS, the nation’s largest public pension fund, is seeking a skilled Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I), Data Modeler to join their Technology Business Management Division. In this role, you will design and maintain data architecture to support critical business processes, ensuring data quality and performance while collaborating with various stakeholders. Responsibilities: • Create relational and dimensional data models (e.g., normalized schemas, star schemas) that align with organizational data requirements and business processes. • Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., solution architects, developers, business analysts, etc.) to implement, refine, and optimize database solutions tailored to business needs. • Enhance database performance using techniques like indexing and query tuning, while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through validation rules and quality assurance processes. • Leverage problem-solving skills to learn and apply knowledge of CalPERS' applications and databases, while maintaining metadata and adhering to data governance standards. Qualifications: Required: • Create relational and dimensional data models (e.g., normalized schemas, star schemas) that align with organizational data requirements and business processes. • Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., solution architects, developers, business analysts, etc.) to implement, refine, and optimize database solutions tailored to business needs. • Enhance database performance using techniques like indexing and query tuning, while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through validation rules and quality assurance processes. • Leverage problem-solving skills to learn and apply knowledge of CalPERS' applications and databases, while maintaining metadata and adhering to data governance standards. • Provide a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager’s review. • All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position. • If you are using education to meet MQs, please include your transcripts with your application package. • If you have a degree from outside of the United States, you must submit an evaluation of this degree to determine the US equivalency. • You may need to pass an examination to establish list eligibility prior to a final offer of employment. Preferred: • Resume is optional. It may be included, but is not required.
