Role Description
This is a full-time role for an Electric and Controls Senior Engineer located in Gunner US , Chicago, IL, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Electric and Controls Senior Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), managing projects from conception to completion, and working closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license (FE and less years' experience will be considered at a lower position with an agreement that the PE must be obtained) and possess in-depth expertise in NEC code, UL508A, UL certification, and electrical industry best practices. Additionally, a strong understanding of electrical controls industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus), and the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
·Responsible, specify, and implement with design engineers the electrical systems for our product following NEC code and best industry practices.
·Responsible for electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for new projects and system upgrades.
·Lead technical review sessions to ensure alignment with project requirements and safety standards.
·Serve as the company’s NEC code expert, ensuring all designs comply with current code requirements.
·Responsible Review and assess designs to ensure compliance with UL508A standards, supporting UL certification processes for electrical panels and equipment.
·Ensuring Uphold safety, efficiency, and reliability as central priorities for all electrical systems.
·Manage and lead multiple electrical engineering projects, keeping them on schedule and within budget.
·Coordinate with clients, contractors, factory, and cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication and successful project execution.
·Prepare technical reports, project updates, and documentation for project completion and closeout.
·Design and implement electrical control systems, integrating PLCs, HMIs, and automation components.
·Support integration and debugging of communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication standards.
·Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for improved performance and reduced downtime.
·Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance, training, and professional development support.
·Collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and other cross-functional team members.
·Represent the company in meetings with clients and industry partners as a subject matter expert in NEC code, electrical engineering, and control systems.
·Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering, NEC updates, and relevant industry trends to maintain leading-edge expertise.
·Suggest improvements to existing systems and processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and compliance
Required Skills and Qualifications:
·Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
·Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required indicating passing of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. (PE preferred)
·4+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on NEC code, project management, and system design.
·Comprehensive knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and related standards.
·Familiarity with industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus and BACnet.
·Strong project management skills with proven success managing concurrent projects.
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both clients and colleagues.
·Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
·PE licensure preferred.
·7+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on NEC code, project management, and system design.
·Proficiency in industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus, BACnet and Ethernet/IP.
·Experience with power quality analysis, power factor correction, and harmonic distortion
·Experience with Microsoft Azure products & tools, like databases, IoT, AI
·Experience with MQTT, API,and webhook networking protocols
·Experience with data analytics and data-driven development
