The Embedded Quality Engineer will drive quality assurance activities in software development and releases, focusing on testing customer-facing applications on Ziosk devices, including back-end and front-end applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for Android firmware on mobile and embedded devices.
- Conduct functional, regression, stability, performance, and stress testing on firmware builds.
- Execute payment certification testing across various payment gateways.
- Validate OTA firmware updates and ensure backward/forward compatibility.
- Collaborate with firmware developers to identify root causes and resolve defects.
- Use Android debugging tools (ADB, logcat, fastboot) for in-depth issue analysis.
- Automate repetitive tests.
- Maintain test environments, including flashing firmware images and managing test labs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet release timelines and quality goals.
- Document test results, file bug reports in JIRA, and contribute to test dashboards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5 years of QA/test engineering experience with Android or embedded systems, including connectivity testing (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, 5G, GPS).
- Proficient in Android tools (ADB, fastboot, logcat), Linux/Unix command line, and debugging tools like Wireshark and JIRA.
- Skilled in scripting (Python, Bash) and familiar with automation frameworks (Robot Framework, Appium) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, firmware lifecycle, and version control systems (Git).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
