The Emerging Device Software team is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the design and architecture of new consumer devices, driving technical direction and feature roadmap for next-generation devices. Responsibilities: • Develop high quality embedded software for Consumer products. • Lead key components in the area of Middleware, frameworks and interface with hardware abstraction layers to drive various sensors like, camera, IMU etc • Deal with ambiguity, make data-driven decisions and juggle cross-organization complexity • Evaluate different design choices, prototype new technology, and implement high quality technical solutions that address business requirements • Contribute in defining product roadmap, understand business impact of system choices, and make technical trade-offs using sound judgement • Work closely with cross functional team, understand the requirements, design and deliver innovative monitoring solutions to help preserve customer trust. • Design and develop high quality software. • Influence the product roadmap, define key components of overall system architecture and lead the adoption of best practices within the org. • Raise the quality bar for team’s outputs. • Work closely with cross functional teams to bring a unified embedded control software solution for our customers. Qualifications: Required: • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team • Strong engineering background in areas such as Consumer Device Software Engineering • Proven understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization Preferred: • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent • Experience with programming in C++ programming language • Experience with Middleware components and Android/Linux • Understanding of systems software (kernel, device drivers, system calls) and optimizing for limited resources Company: Amazon is a tech firm with a focus on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence.
