This position requires the employee to be onsite on a regular basis. The primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Robotics Calibration Engineer - Amr Systems to join our robotics engineering team. This role is critical to ensuring the precision, reliability, and performance of our autonomous mobile robot (AMR) systems through meticulous calibration, testing, and optimization of sensors, localization algorithms, and motion control systems. You'll work cross-functionally with hardware, software, and systems teams to deliver robust and scalable robotic platforms for real-world deployment. What You'll Do Calibrate and validate sensors including LiDAR, IMUs, cameras, and wheel encoders to ensure accurate perception and localization. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate calibrated components into the AMR platform. Tune and validate SLAM and localization algorithms for dynamic and unstructured environments. Design and execute comprehensive test plans to evaluate robot performance and identify calibration drift. Analyze sensor data and robot logs to diagnose issues and improve system accuracy and robustness. Develop and maintain calibration tools and automation scripts to streamline workflows. Document calibration procedures, test results, and system configurations for traceability and reproducibility. Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and contributing to best practices in robot calibration. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Strong understanding of robotic perception systems including LiDAR, vision systems, and inertial sensors. Proficiency in Python and C++ for tool development and system integration. Hands-on experience with ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM algorithms, and real-time systems. Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, Gazebo, RViz, and calibration toolkits. Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience working with mobile robot platforms in industrial or warehouse environments. Knowledge of machine learning techniques for sensor fusion and calibration optimization. Familiarity with ISO standards related to robotics and automation. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for robotics software.
