Position: R&D Software Engineer
Department: R&D Department
Primary Objective Of Position
The Research & Development (R&D) Software Engineer is responsible for developing software solutions for monitoring large rotating electrical machines, focusing on frontend applications and interfacing via Edge Computing.
Major Areas Of Accountability
Research and Development: support and carry out research projects. Design and Development: design experiments on prototypes and production machines to verify analyses. Manage planning, analysis, scheduling, testing, and execution of R&D projects. Generate specifications, standards, and reports supporting R&D and Production Engineering. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical support and resolving issues for customer requirements. Adhere to and support the Electric Machinery Quality Policy. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% for troubleshooting at customer sites. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1-2+ years’ experience in designing or developing custom front-end software or applications for stand-alone devices. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred. Experience with architecture of modern programs integrating stand-alone devices with user systems. Ability to evaluate and solve complex technical issues. Experience with coding, experimentation, or analytical design; proficient in C/C++, Microsoft Office, working knowledge of C#; SAP preferred. Experience with communication protocols like USB, EIA-485, MODBUS. Developing software for Windows & Linux. Self-starter, results-oriented, team player. Excellent communication skills for reports and presentations. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel within facilities, climb stairs, and move around machinery. Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Salary Range
$70,000 to $90,000
