This position is full-time on-site in the Northern Virginia Area and requires a Top Secret Clearance with SCI access. As a spectral scientist , you will focus on exploitation software development, creating tools and plugins for processing spectral, multispectral, or hyperspectral data. You will work with phenomenology types such as EO/IR, MSI, and HSI, requiring a deep understanding of sensor capabilities and data analysis to support assessments. Your tools will be tested and deployed for use by the analytic community. Collaboration with team members building other tools for community partners is essential, along with effective communication and weekly status presentations. Responsibilities include: Developing and implementing software for data processing, calibration, target detection, and characterization. Collecting field spectra with instruments like ASD, SVC, D&P, Exoscan, etc. Analyzing spectra and remote sensing imagery. Developing target detection algorithms, requiring physics or spectral phenomenology expertise. Implementing software in Python, C++, Matlab, or IDL. Building and validating remote sensing target detection algorithms. Documenting code and presenting work in technical forums. Collaborating with DoD and IC teams. Requirements: BA/BS and 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent. Proficiency in Python, C++, Matlab, or IDL. Active TS/SCI clearance. Preferred qualifications: Experience with hyperspectral image processing and calibration. Experience in data analysis dissemination to customers. Developing remote sensing software tools and algorithms. MA/MS in Science or Engineering with 18+ years of relevant experience, or 19+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
