We are looking for a dedicated Sr. Security Engineer to join our client's team in Oakland, California. In this Sr. Security Engineer contract to permanent position, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our network security infrastructure and application security while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of our systems. This role requires a proactive individual with hands-on experience in managing security tools and frameworks within enterprise environments. The Sr. Security Engineer opportunity is an onsite position out of Oakland, California. Security Engineer Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage the organization's network security tools, including Splunk, Prisma, and Cisco ASA. Create and handle service tickets to address network security issues and implement necessary changes. Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the security platform without requiring engineering tasks. Collaborate with teams to maintain secure configurations and oversee patch management. Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in the remediation of identified risks. Manage and monitor security tools including CrowdStrike, Tenable/Nessus, Splunk, SecurityGate, Zscaler, Prisma, and Bitsight. Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts across IT and OT systems. Support incident detection, response, and forensic investigations. Maintain and improve security dashboards and reporting for internal stakeholders. Collaborate with IT and OT teams to ensure secure configurations and patch management. Take ownership of information security management, ensuring proactive measures to protect systems and data. Evaluate and implement best practices for network security policies and procedures. Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security or a related field. Strong knowledge of network protocols such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and familiarity with Cisco routers. Experience with security tools like Splunk and Prisma for monitoring and management. Tenable/Nessus (Vulnerability Management) Splunk (SIEM) SecurityGate (Risk Management) Zscaler (Cloud Security) Prisma (Cloud Security Posture Management) Bitsight (Security Ratings) Proficiency in network security concepts and practices, including Cisco ASA. Demonstrated ability to manage service tickets and implement infrastructure changes. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and documentation abilities. Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GSEC, CEH, GCIA). Experience in energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure sectors. Knowledge of regulatory compliance in OT environments.
