Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university, and who are eligible for tenure or have obtained tenure. Duties include research, service, and/or teaching or clinical practice, as assigned according to workload guidelines of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, if applicable, regional campus. Candidates must have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or possess equivalent experience. Position Overview The Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and the James Cancer Hospital Molecular Laboratory seeks a Director of Clinical Bioinformatics at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Required Expertise and Qualifications Expertise in clinical bioinformatics and genomics. Preferred research interests include machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital spatial profiling, or integration of genomics and digital pathology. Must possess an MD, MD-equivalent, PhD, or MD/PhD degree, with relevant clinical board certification or eligibility, or clinical bioinformatics certification. Ability to conduct independent research and a history of obtaining grant funding is desirable. Responsibilities Oversee the clinical genomics laboratory staff, including PhD bioinformaticians and masters-level variant scientists. Lead research programs in clinical or translational bioinformatics/genomics. Develop bioinformatic pipelines or software tools in genomic/computational pathology. Collaborate with molecular pathologists and laboratory directors on data workflows for clinical genomics and pathology-genomics signouts. Participate in molecular pathology signout if trained and certified. Represent the faculty in genomics and bioinformatics initiatives within the cancer center and institution.
