Sr R&D Systems Engineer – Hardware (Finance)

Sr Advanced R&D Systems Engineer , you will provide technical expertise on projects related to Alternative Position, Navigation, and Timing Systems. Your role involves systems design, integration, architecture development, and supporting breakthrough product development. You will serve as the focal point for systems architecture and work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Additionally, you will support new business pursuits with an integrated sales, business, and technical team.

MINNESOTA SALARY RANGE ONLY: The annual base salary or hourly pay range for this position is $122,000 to $153,000. This is a general guideline; actual offers depend on experience, education, skills, and market considerations.
The application period is approximately 40 days from posting, subject to change based on business needs.
U.S. CITIZEN REQUIREMENT: Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead end-to-end systems engineering activities for new product design and development, from concept through validation and deployment.
Define and manage system-level requirements, interfaces, and architecture with cross-functional teams.
Support aircraft systems integration, ensuring interaction between PNT systems and avionics, sensors, and communication systems.
Develop and refine system design processes, including requirements traceability, MBSE, and digital engineering tools.
Create and maintain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, ICDs, requirements, and verification matrices.
Lead development of Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) for new PNT technologies and contribute to industry standards.
Plan and execute system verification and validation, including testing and field trials.
Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentations for stakeholders and authorities.
Act as a technical liaison with customers, providing engineering insights during reviews.
Coordinate efforts among interdisciplinary teams to ensure schedule and design alignment.
Support proposal development and technical input for business pursuits.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
5+ years of experience in systems design in aerospace R&D or similar.
WE VALUE:
Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering).
Knowledge of avionics systems, including flight control, navigation, and communication.
Experience with Inertial, GPS, or alternative PNT sensors.
Familiarity with avionics hardware/software development, verification, and validation.
Experience with Digital Engineering, MBSE, Digital Twin, and Digital Thread.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, CAN bus.
System testing and verification techniques.
Configuration management principles and tools.
Experience with safety and certification activities under FAA or MIL standards.
Excellent communication skills.
