Mainframe Developer
to play a pivotal role in advancing SSA's Digital Modernization Strategy. Discover your purpose with us and become part of our Leidos Family! Design, develop, test, debug, and implement advanced COBOL programs using best practices and the latest technologies. Create and enhance JCL for efficient batch processing. Assess the impact of updated operating systems or new COBOL and Endevor versions on programs. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, providing technical guidance and influencing stakeholders to achieve strategic goals. Identify and resolve application defects across COBOL, business logic, CICS configurations, middleware, or databases (PL/SQL and Data Modeling). Communicate technical information to management, customers, and vendors effectively and appropriately for the audience. Perform additional duties as assigned. FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS
(Basic Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 7+ years of experience in developing COBOL batch and online programs utilizing CICS, JES, JCL, CLIST, maps, and PROC. 2+ years of experience working with Endevor. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust, as required by the contract. FACTORS TO HELP YOU SHINE
(Required Skills) These skills will be key to your success in this role: Experience in developing and maintaining COBOL applications, including working with structures, copybooks, and CICS maps. Proficiency in developing applications for IBM z/OS. Ability to debug COBOL Programs, CLIST, PROC, and undertake COBOL error tracing using Visual Studio COBOL viewer. Basic familiarity with CICS programs and how COBOL interacts with BMS maps for user interfaces. Hands-on experience using Endevor as a developer. Experience using Endevor with TADZ for reporting and analyzing elements. Working knowledge of ISPF, TSO, JES, and Job Control Language (JCL). Experience in developing and modifying JCL for job execution and batch processing. Hands-on experience with both batch and online processing. Strong communication and writing skills. (Desired Skills) Highlight your modern development expertise through the following experience or skills: Working knowledge of SAS and REXX. Experience with Mainframe Assembler development. Relevant certifications, such as IBM Mainframe Developer Professional or Interskill - Mainframe Application Programmer - COBOL. Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, DB2), and SQL. Familiarity with modern development software, tools, and methodologies. Experience working on Agile projects and understanding Agile terminologies. Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity, among others.
