SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support the Loan Guaranty (LGY) program at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is part of a collaborative agile team modernizing legacy systems through secure and scalable software development practices.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field. 2+ years of experience in software engineering or cybersecurity. Eligible for federal security clearance. Preferred: Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
Technical Skills
Experience with coding (e.g., Python, Java, C++, etc.). Familiarity with secure development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices. Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF). Experience with CI/CD tools and version control (e.g., Git, Jenkins). Understanding security controls (auth, encryption, logging).
Responsibilities
Complete development tasks (coding, testing, analysis) with moderate guidance. Support integration of security controls into systems and applications. Participate in planning, design, and sprint activities. Implement monitoring, analytics, and pipeline updates. Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
