As part of Canoo’s Battery Pack Team within the Propulsion group, you will lead current and future Battery and Energy Storage solutions, including Battery Pack Design and Testing. You will communicate cross-functionally across engineering disciplines to engineer and deliver high-quality Battery Pack and Energy Storage Solutions for vehicle production. Responsibilities
Drive development of Battery Cell, Module, and Pack Technologies Become an expert in Battery Cell, Module, and Pack Technologies and Chemistries Identify new technologies and suppliers for Energy Storage Development Support design activities from concept to production, including mechanical, electrical, and thermal aspects Architect Battery Pack and Energy Storage Solutions Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support testing accordingly Manage Functional Safety Requirements for Battery Packs and Energy Storage Solutions Collaborate with Vehicle Platform team for implementation and improvements Develop battery models to support vehicle system estimates Familiarity with testing and safety protocols for Battery Development Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Minimum 10 years of engineering experience Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills Ability to solve complex problems independently Proficiency in MS Office Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple projects Preferred Experience
Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Extensive experience with Battery Pack and Energy Storage System Mechanical Design Knowledge of Cell Technologies and Chemistries Experience supporting manufacturing activities Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, isoSPI) Experience with CAN communication tools (CANAlyzer, CANoe, CANape) Hands-on experience with HV Power Supplies, thermal chambers, measurement tools Excellent analytical and communication skills, data-driven reporting ability Knowledge of ISO26262 and functional safety standards Experience in automotive or aerospace component design and manufacturing processes Travel Requirements
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% depending on project needs. Physical Requirements
