Structural Engineer
with a strong background in the
pulp and paper industry , specifically in the
design and analysis of machine track foundations . This role will support structural engineering needs for capital projects, maintenance upgrades, and expansions within our manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of structural systems, industrial building codes, and the unique challenges of supporting heavy rotating equipment and paper machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and analyze
machine track foundations , equipment bases, and supporting structural systems for pulp and paper machinery. Ensure all structural designs comply with industry standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE), safety regulations, and internal quality guidelines. Perform structural assessments and retrofitting plans for aging or modified machine foundations. Collaborate closely with process, mechanical, and civil engineering teams to align structural support with operational needs. Review vendor drawings and coordinate with equipment suppliers to ensure proper alignment and loading. Conduct structural inspections during installation and commissioning phases. Develop technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for mill infrastructure projects. Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs and field changes. Participate in site walks, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning as needed. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Structural engineering experience in heavy industrial settings ,
machine foundation or machine track design
in pulp and paper or a similar industry. Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, or SAP2000. Deep understanding of vibration, load transfer, settlement, and dynamic forces related to high-speed rotating equipment. Strong communication skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Willingness to travel to mills and project sites as required. Preferred Skills:
Experience with foundation designs for paper machines, turbines, pumps, and similar dynamic equipment. Familiarity with soil-structure interaction and geotechnical coordination. Knowledge of building expansion projects or retrofitting existing structures. Mill shutdown experience or fast-track construction support.
