The Student Services Assistant plays an important role in supporting graduate students through academic advising, communications, and event planning. The Student Services Assistant works closely with the Director of Graduate Student Services, the Program Director, and the Graduate Academic Advisor in the Carter School. Occasional evening activities are required in conjunction with the Carter School Admissions Office events and orientation schedules. This position is based in Arlington, VA. This is a part-time position (20 hours/week). Flexible schedule can be arranged. Standard business hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday; may require evening work depending on the student services event schedule. Responsibilities: Manage graduate student services event calendar; Develop and implement communication campaigns including direct emails newsletters, LinkedIn social media; Develop and implement student engagement events; and Participate in orientation, admissions, and career development events. Academic Advising: Advise graduate certificate students on course planning each semester; Support and process student academic forms (e.g., late registration and late graduation); and Identify and assist academically at-risk graduate students. Communications and Administrative Support: Timely response to student queries; Develop and implement communication campaigns through direct emails, newsletters, Microsoft Teams, and LinkedIn; Prepare reports on student milestones, concentrations, graduation audits, internships, etc.; and Prepare and maintain confidential student files. Event Planning: Manage graduate student services event calendar; Effective communication and organizational skills and experience (or ability to engage) with appropriate technologies; Ability to build a rapport with students; building trust, flexibility, and an empathetic, non-judgmental, and ethical approach with a diverse group of students; and Ability to work within a team and to take proactive action when needed to support students. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; Effective communication and organizational skills and experience (or ability to engage) with appropriate technologies; Ability to build a rapport with students; building trust, flexibility, and an empathetic, non-judgmental, and ethical approach with a diverse group of students; and Ability to work within a team and to take proactive action when needed to support students. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in academic advising, communications, and/or event planning; and Knowledge of PatriotWeb, Banner, and/or Salesforce. Instructions to Applicants:
