Purpose/Objective of the Role:
This position is in the OWU Special Collections area of the library. We collect and preserve objects and documents related to the history of the University and student life on campus, as well as manage collections of rare books, manuscripts, and artifacts. This is a great opportunity for those interested in research as well as career paths in libraries, archives, history, and special collections. This will be for the academic year, starting as soon as possible. You will need to be able to schedule your six hours of work so they fit within the timeframe of Monday-Friday 9 am - 5 pm.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Job Duties (you will receive training):
Collection inventory projects, focused on books. Creating and maintaining historical subject files. Proper handling of rare and historical materials. Artifact/document digitization. University and alumni research. Document and artifact storage andmaintenance. Qualifications:
Attentive to detail. Ability to work independently. Good communication skills. Reliable. Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Interest or experience in historical research. Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Word, Excel, Google Docs, Sheets). Familiarity with library-related applications (such as an online library catalog). Some knowledge of library-related organizational systems (such as call numbers or the Dewey decimal system).
