The facility has earned numerous Center of Excellence designations, accreditation, and recognition for its renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, regional Stroke Center, Snakebite Treatment Center, Breast Health Center, Bariatric Surgery Center, and Cancer Service. The facility also offers the region’s only multi-person hyperbaric chamber, allowing up to nine patients to dive together at one time. Job Description
Under supervision, provides professional nursing care, within their designated acute care facility, as a Float Pool Nurse, to patients/clients in the following approved health care specialties within Acute Care: Emergency Department (Adults), Emergency Department (Pediatrics), Inpatient (Adults), Critical Care/Telemetry (Adults), Medical-Surgical (Adults). Diagnoses and treats responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques, such as case-finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive to and restorative of life and well-being, while ensuring optimal utilization of resources, service delivery, safe patient care, and compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and NYC Health + Hospitals rules and regulations and nursing standards of care.
Identifies and discriminates between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms. Selects and performs those therapeutic measures which are essential for effective execution of the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients. Develops, implements and continuously evaluates the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients. Records and maintains nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients to ensure continuity of care. Interprets and reports responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team
Minimum Qualifications
A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and One (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the specialty area in which assigned to float; and Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Special Note
Advanced certifications may be required for specialty areas.
The following health care specialties are the only approved health care specialties within Acute Care for Float Pool Nurses entering into this title.
