Join us as a Senior Cloud Engineer supporting essential cross domain services for U.S. Intelligence and Defense customers. The AWS Cross Domain Operations team is looking for a dedicated engineer to help maintain and operate critical AWS infrastructure that enables secure cloud capabilities across classified environments. Your expertise is vital in ensuring the reliable operation of systems that government agencies depend on daily. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in managing operational excellence for our always-on cross domain systems. Your responsibilities include: Leading initiatives for operational excellence with a focus on availability, resiliency, and security. Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues across the full technology stack in high-pressure situations. Driving continuous improvement of operational processes, such as automating manual tasks and implementing scaling solutions. Conducting post-incident analyses and implementing preventive measures to avoid issue recurrence. Collaborating with development teams to influence system design and architecture that impacts operational stability. Performing in-depth technical analyses of service design, operating systems, networking, storage, monitoring, and capacity planning. Leading cross-functional initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. Mentoring team members on operational best practices and resilience engineering principles. You will operate with significant autonomy, making critical decisions that affect system reliability and performance. Success in this role hinges on strong troubleshooting skills, a composed approach to incident management, and the capability to balance tactical operational needs with strategic improvements. Your typical day includes: Participating in daily team stand-ups to review operational priorities. Leading operational reviews and post-incident analyses. Collaborating with customer leads to understand and meet their needs. Providing technical guidance to team members on complex challenges. Engaging in design reviews with partner development teams. Responding to critical issues and guiding resolution efforts during the 24/7 on-call rotation. Our Cross Domain Operations team is dedicated to maintaining and optimizing AWS cross domain services that enable secure cloud capabilities across classified environments. We aim for technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in a supportive environment. Basic Qualifications: Associate's degree or above, or certifications such as Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP. 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience. 5+ years working with a scripting language. Experience as a technical lead for a team of engineers. Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph. Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of Linux systems administration, including automation of tasks. 5+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies, especially cross domain solutions. 5+ years of experience with production computing support procedures and methodologies. Understanding of performance design for scalability and reliability. Experience troubleshooting complex issues through performance and log analysis.
