**Role Summary/Purpose:** The VP of Operational Risk Programs & Assessments is responsible for managing enterprise-wide operational risk assessment programs at Synchrony, performed by both the first and second lines of defense. These programs ensure the identification and assessment of operational risks across all material products, activities, processes, and systems. The primary scope includes the Operational Risk Assessment (ORA), Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program, and Proactive Risk Acceptance Process, along with related reporting to committees. This role reports to the SVP, Non-Customer Facing Operational Risk Oversight.
**Our Way of Working:** We offer flexibility allowing you to work from home, near our hubs, or in our offices. Occasional travel to our offices may be required for meetings, training, or events.
**Responsibilities:** - Lead execution and reporting of the ORA, measuring risk levels, documenting status, and forecasting trends. - Own the RCSA framework, including policies, standards, and related processes. - Manage planning and execution of the RAQ for all processes. - Maintain inventories of Process Risks and Controls data. - Define and manage the PRSCA framework for high-risk processes. - Oversee the Proactive Risk Acceptance process. - Collaborate on governance of the Process Universe and RCSA quality assurance. - Perform second line challenge and reviews. - Partner with GRC to design system processes for risk data management. - Deliver risk analytics and trend visibility. - Engage with regulators and provide updates to committees. - Facilitate operational risk monitoring and reviews. - Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
**Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree and 7+ years in banking or finance, or High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years experience. - 5+ years in operational risk, compliance, governance, or risk assessment.
**Desired Characteristics:** - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Leadership across functions. - Decision-making based on data and creativity. - Excellent communication skills. - Experience with presentations at all organizational levels. - Intermediate MS Excel skills. - Ability to travel domestically.
**Compensation:** Salary range: $150,000 - $250,000 annually, with bonus potential. Compensation varies based on experience, skills, and market adjustments.
