Job Summary:
Capps Plumbing and Sewer, Inc. is part of the Office of Injured Employee Counsel (OIEC), which assists injured employees with their Texas workers compensation claims. They are looking for a Data Analyst/System Developer to support the development and implementation of a new case management system, as well as analyze and validate data for reports.
Responsibilities:
Compiles reviews, validates, and analyzes data for statistical reports and budget reports
Uses analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Visio, and SAS
Develops and maintains complex data products and visualizations that support internal decision-making that meets the needs of management staff and executive staff
Defines, develops, and implements data and reporting standards related to the development of a case management system
Collaborates with the business areas and IT and ensures that data related requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and well understood
Creates, maintains, and manages a data asset catalog and completes inventory of organizational data related to the development of a case management system
Works with agency staff and across organizations to identify and coordinate programming needs
Performs related work as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Minimum of two (2) years experience in creating reports, performing statistical analysis, and using moderate to complex Microsoft Excel formulas for Data Analyst III
Minimum of three (3) years experience in creating reports, performing statistical analysis, and using moderate to complex Microsoft Excel formulas for Data Analyst IV
Experience may be substituted for education on a year-by-year basis
Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and analyzing data sets
Demonstrated knowledge of running queries
Demonstrated knowledge of report writing
Demonstrated knowledge of presenting findings
Demonstrated knowledge of record keeping, including security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data
Demonstrated skill in use of a computer and applicable software
Demonstrated skill in conducting data searches
Demonstrated skill in evaluating
Demonstrated skill in translating large amounts of data, and in critical thinking
Demonstrated ability to compile, review, validate, and analyze data for statistical reports
Demonstrated ability to respond to inquiries regarding technical support on reports, data, and other technical-type issues
Demonstrated ability to assist Executive staff in analysis, research, and preparation of responses to data-related requests
Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze and maintain necessary reports to ensure that OIEC meets reporting requirements
Demonstrated ability to serve as expert in the OIEC business areas, as related to the data, for trend analysis using Tableau and/or Power Business Intelligence Software
Demonstrated ability to serve as the data-agency expert to assist Executive staff in preparing the agency Performance Measures, Agency Strategic Plan, Legislative Appropriation Request and other Legislative Budget Board reports
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement techniques for evaluating and improving division programs
Demonstrated ability to evaluate section operations to identify opportunities for business process improvements and make recommendations for procedure changes
Demonstrated ability to provide input and feedback towards the creation of a new agency case management system
Demonstrated ability to leverage understanding of the reporting and data environment to support the development and maintenance of a new case management system
Preferred:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred
Experience creating and enhancing reports
Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
Experience with budget-related reports, such as Performance Measures, Agency Strategic Plan, Legislative Appropriation Request and other Legislative Budget Board reports
