Job Summary The Telecommunications Analyst serves as the primary liaison between the Sheriff's Office and network vendors (e.g., Client, Avaya) to resolve high-level support issues. This role involves managing telecommunications systems, diagnosing and repairing equipment, performing technical studies, and ensuring compliance with established standards. The analyst will also assist in project management, system upgrades, and emergency response outside normal business hours.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Act as the primary point of contact between the Sheriff's Office and external network vendors (e.g., Client, Avaya) for escalated technical support. Perform management studies and special projects to improve system efficiency and reliability. Serve as the direct interface with other departments to support the Sheriff's Office network infrastructure. Prepare technical correspondence, reports, and documentation. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards. Resolve complex technical issues using professional judgment to restore critical systems. Respond to work orders, engineering changes, and emergency trouble calls, including after-hours support. Analyze, install, and test new or upgraded telecommunications systems. Maintain and update documentation, including maintenance schedules and inventory records. Compile and manage statistical data, manuals, and reports. Represent the division in internal and external meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Telecommunications Analyst, Voice Communication Analyst, or similar role. Hands-on experience with Avaya System Programming, System Manager/Session Manager certification. Cisco training/certification (preferred but not required).
Skills & Abilities: Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems, project management principles, and methodologies. Ability to plan, organize, and implement telecom and video projects. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors. Effective written and verbal communication to explain technical concepts clearly. Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Avaya Programming Certificate Experience working in law enforcement or government agencies. Additional Requirements Must pass a background check and fingerprinting conducted by the Sheriff's Office.
Work Environment & Physical Demands Office and field work (may require on-site troubleshooting). Occasional after-hours or on-call duty for emergencies.
