The Lead Therapist provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions for clients in Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care. The Lead Therapist role consists of direct clinical care, providing clinical supervision to clinical team members and interns, developing/improving group curriculum, and supporting overall care coordination. This position is responsible for assessing the therapeutic needs of individuals and families, and for developing appropriate treatment plans. The Lead Therapist acts as the primary point of contact for clients and families throughout the treatment process and serves as a client advocate with the treatment team. Position acts as a liaison with referral sources, clinical partners, and internal resources to coordinate care throughout the treatment process. Essential Responsibilities
Exemplify our 5 Star Service to clients, team members, referents, and families. Assess the therapeutic needs of clients, determining appropriate interventions, and conducting individual and group therapy sessions in accordance with these needs. Assist with the creation and coordination of clinical program schedules in partnership with the Executive Director and clinical team members. Oversee weekly group assignments and topics to ensure balanced therapist workloads and programming tailored to current cohort needs. Completes psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, session notes, discharge plans, and other reports required for each client in compliance with State, accrediting bodies, quality guidelines, and payor source guidelines. Support clinical team in meeting documentation and utilization review deadlines and requirements. Provide clinical coverage in the absence of the Executive Director to include precertification of new admissions, urgent/emergent clinical decision making, and facilitation of treatment team meetings. Provide mentorship and supervision to associate level clinicians and interns. Conduct weekly individual and family therapy sessions for assigned caseload. Monitor behavioral interventions for clients and provide coaching skills, as needed. Conduct specialized groups as assigned based on education, training, and experience; supervise or co-lead groups with staff or interns when appropriate. Maintain therapeutic relationships with clients using praise and other reinforcers to encourage appropriate behaviors and attitudes, setting limits, and maintaining therapeutic boundaries in a kind and firm manner. Utilize effective verbal crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, involving other staff as needed. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate client care from admission through discharge. Co-facilitate weekly clinical, consultation, and business meetings; present cases to be discussed as pre-assigned. Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner reflecting ongoing assessment of client's clinical presentation and behaviors in accordance with policy and procedures. Communicate client progress with the referral source, family, parent, or guardian informed of treatment goals and plans, as appropriate. Leverage the referral process to build relationships with new referents and engage in collaboration with referents. Welcome clients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in a professional and respectful manner. Qualifications
What we are seeking: Position requires a master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy or psychology. Must hold CA licensure such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Ph.D. psychologist, and/or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). Position requires a minimum of one (1) year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting. A valid Driver's license and a generally clean driving record are required. Employees may be required to drive personal or company vehicles. State licensing DHS and DSS prohibit individuals with specific criminal charges, conducted by Livescan fingerprint checks. Exemptions offered. For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against companies of similar size within the behavioral healthcare industry. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
