Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cloud Engineer Tier 3 to join a Federal Government Program located in Washington, DC through 100% full onsite presence. The Cloud Engineer Tier 3 will support the DOE focusing on optimizing and securing cloud infrastructure through hands-on engineering, automation, and performance monitoring. Responsibilities of the Cloud Engineer Tier 3 include: Design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure to improve performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency Monitor system performance and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues Develop and maintain cloud solution roadmaps aligned with business objectives and technical strategy Automate cloud operations to reduce manual tasks and improve system reliability Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and support system accreditation Gather and analyze technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into functional cloud architectures Create technical documentation and support deliverables, including design specifications and system integration plans Qualifications of the Cloud Engineer Tier 3 include: Advanced proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies Strong background in systems design, development, testing, and debugging - especially for cloud-integrated applications Experience with automation tools and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell) to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency Active DOE Q clearance or Top Secret clearance Familiarity with federal cybersecurity standards and compliance frameworks, including counterintelligence evaluations and polygraph requirements Proven ability to optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency Experience tracking and improving metrics like MTTR, MTBF, operational uptime, and cost savings Ability to gather and translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions and cloud architecture Knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards, security posture management, and accreditation processes Experience developing cloud solution roadmaps aligned with business strategy and operational goals Compensation for the Cloud Engineer Tier 3 includes: Salary Range: $180,000-$200,000 depending on experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Holidays, PTO, Education Incentives, sick leave as required by law
