Through the Orlando Health Children's Neuroscience Institute patients have the support of a multidisciplinary team of experts who use advanced techniques and procedures specialized for young people. The institute consists of 22 physicians and 17 advanced practice providers serving a multitude of neuroscience specialties including highly subspecialized surgeons on the leading edge of diagnosis and treatment for a diverse range of pediatric disorders of the nervous system and brain including trauma, congenital and neuro-oncology conditions. The multidisciplinary team is comprised of specialists within Behavioral Health and Development, Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuropsychology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Psychiatry.
We are currently seeking an advanced practice provider to join our growing pediatric neurosurgical team. The Pediatric Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) collaborates with supervising physicians and other APP colleagues to co-manage the pediatric neurosurgical patient, according to established practice guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards. The APP is responsible for managing patients within the inpatient setting, outpatient clinic visits, consultations, first-assists within surgical cases, and takes trauma call on a rotating basis. Responsibilities
Essential Functions • Inpatient management of acute, critically ill patients. • Perioperative management of the surgical patient including first or second assist in Operating room. Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, and dressing. • Perioperative care coordination and patient education to enhance the care of the pediatric orthopedic patient. • Evaluate neurosurgical Consults within Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital including ED consults, management of trauma alerts, floor consults. • Outpatient clinic including specialty clinics, satellite clinic, post-operative and trauma follow-ups, and acute care visits. • First call for trauma coverage managing nursing calls, ED consults, emergent surgical needs, new admissions, parent phone calls.
Qualifications
Education/Training
Master's degree or Doctorate degree in Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant Studies.
Minimum 3 years' experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in Pediatrics preferred, preferably a surgical specialty.
Licensure/Certification • Certified as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; or certified as Physician Assistant. • Current active certification and licensure in the State of Florida as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. • Maintains current BLS and PALS certification.
Experience • Two years of pediatric or general surgery experience desired. • Neurosurgical, Trauma or Orthopedics experience is a plus but not required. • Surgery, Critical Care, Trauma, or ED Fellowship trained APP desired. • Will consider new graduates
