1:2 typical; occasionally 1:3 for step-down or overflow patients Floating:
Required to float to Stepdown, Med-Surg, Tele, or ED boarders (if needed) Float assignments based on rotation (travelers not always first to float) Full Med-Surg load = 5-6 patients (rare occurrence)

Critically ill patients Sepsis, MI, renal failure, post-vascular procedures, strokes, TIAs, seizures Lumbar drains, ARDS, CV procedures Ventilator management (ET/Trach) Titration of critical drips (vasopressors/sedation) Age range: Adolescent through geriatric Experience & Skills Required
Minimum:
2 years ICU experience + prior travel experience Preferred:
CRRT, IABP, Impella experience PALS & NIHSS certifications (not required)
Drip Experience:
Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin
Tele Monitoring:
Yes - no monitor techs; RNs read their own strips
