Principal P&C Engineer
Lone Star Transmission, a rate-regulated transmission service provider in Texas, owns and operates approximately 330 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and associated equipment. As a P&C engineer, you will work operations and engineering to achieve safe and reliable operation of Lone Star system, which includes troubleshooting and maintenance of protective relaying systems, new construction projects, substation upgrades, substation integration & automation systems, substation control systems, remote terminal units, digital fault recorder, etc. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure compliance to NERC (PRC, CIP), TRE and ERCOT reliability standards, guidelines and protocols for substation equipment. Main office location for this position will be in Mansfield, TX (or Abilene, TX) and will travel to Lone Star substations as needed, including occasional travel to support other NEET business units outside Texas. Available for call out duties on 24x7 coverage as required, working weekends, nights and holidays is required at times. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Execution of multi-year reliability plans for assigned protection and control equipment based on use of quality tools and techniques Perform replacement/upgrade/troubleshooting of protective relaying systems, substation integration & automation systems, substation control systems and remote terminal unit Verify protective relay logic through functional testing of the protection systems Performs root cause analysis of system failures and develop corrective action plans and recommendations Responds to unplanned transmission system events and performs initial assessments, troubleshooting and coordination of resources to return equipment back to service Maintain applicable certifications to perform high voltage switching activities through internal Lone Star and NextEra training programs Perform engineering review, commissioning and testing plans for Lone Star and NEET projects and ensure project meets applicable Lone Star construction standards and specifications Assist with project integration, commissioning and testing for substation construction projects for Lone Star and other NEET business units Maintain applicable records and analysis related to NERC PRC-004 requirements Maintain Lone Star NERC PRC and CIP compliance documentation up to date Position requires occasional travel to NEET facilities outside Texas Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited college or university
