Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a general or vascular ultrasound department License: Associates degree in Sonography in Vascular Tech w/ RVT or RVS Certification, OR Associates degree in Sonography in Vascular Tech while waiting to obtain RVT or RVS Certification (completion required within 1 year), OR Graduate of an accredited Training Program w/ RVT or RVS Certification Certifications: RVT or RVS Certification preferred Must-Have: Proficiency in vascular studies, including but not limited to venous duplex, arterial bypass, hemodialysis grafts, renal artery duplex, and more. Description: This position may require floating to various locations. Candidates must have an associates degree in Sonography in Vascular Tech or in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The role requires proficiency in venous duplex exams of upper and lower extremities. Technologists will independently conduct a variety of vascular tests and examinations. They must perform patient assessments, documenting medical and surgical history. Vascular testing may occur in several settings, such as clinics, nursing units, and emergency rooms. Technologists are responsible for transporting ultrasound equipment to various locations. Accurate data collection and adherence to laboratory protocols is essential. Findings from diagnostic tests need to be reported promptly to medical staff. Documentation of tests, including coding for hospital and laboratory records, is required. Proper care of ultrasound equipment and maintaining a clean lab environment are responsibilities of the position. Continuing education and obtaining necessary CME credits to maintain credentials is expected. Ensuring a safe and positive experience for patients is a key part of the role. Availability for occasional weekends, holidays, and on-call duties is required. Technologists must maintain high-quality imaging skills per IAC standards. Flexibility, adaptability, and respect for diversity in the workforce are important. Coordination of resources based on patient demands and prioritizing work assignments are needed for desired outcomes. Ability to collect and analyze ultrasound data is essential. Technologists should be capable of troubleshooting equipment issues. Assistance in training new staff may be required. Strong communication skills are necessary, including the ability to document required information and communicate effectively with patients and staff. Physical demands of the job include standing, walking, lifting, and moving equipment as needed. Vision acuity for various tasks is also necessary including close and distance vision. Assistance with patient transportation to and from the vascular lab may be required.
