Job Description Job Title: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Profession: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a general or vascular ultrasound department License: Associates degree in Sonography in Vascular Tech w/ RVT or RVS Certification or Associates degree in Sonography in Vascular Tech while waiting for certification (completion required within 1 year) Certifications: RVT or RVS Certification preferred Must-Have: Proficiency in a range of vascular studies
Description: This position may require floating to various locations. The Registered Vascular Technologist II performs various noninvasive diagnostic tests to detect vascular disease. They must report findings of exams to the medical staff. Candidates must perform a clinical assessment of patients and provide basic patient care during testing. There may be responsibilities for training students, residents, and staff when necessary. The role requires independent conduct of all vascular testing, including but not limited to reflux studies, visceral examinations, pulse volume recordings, and hemodialysis access scans. Candidates will perform patient assessments, document medical histories, and collect relevant symptoms. Testing may take place in multiple departments and settings. The role involves the transportation and setup of ultrasound equipment. Accurate and reproducible data collection is essential, adhering to laboratory-specific policies. Reporting findings in a timely manner to physicians and hospital staff is required. Candidates will be responsible for documentation including necessary codes for records. Appropriate care and cleaning of equipment post-use is mandatory. Maintaining and obtaining necessary continuing medical education credits is expected. A safe and positive experience for patients must be prioritized. Flexibility for occasional weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage is necessary. High-quality imaging skills must be maintained according to established standards and protocols. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability towards work assignments. Communication skills are critical for effective interaction with patients and staff. The role requires physical demands including standing, walking, and manual dexterity. There is responsibility for the safe transportation of patients and equipment during procedures.
