Introduction to Position:
The UX Designer II position is a mid level designer role at Modea that will visually design innovative user interfaces for some of our best clients. A Designer II will have full-time work experience in high fidelity visual design, designs with a purpose, and will be a strong communicator and collaborator. Joining a cross-functional team made up of designers, analysts, software engineers, project managers, and strategists, this designer will be the expert on the project team when asked “What’s best for the customer?”
A UX Designer II will receive little instruction on day-to-day work with more detailed instructions on new work projects. They will gain more exposure to more complex work supporting the client to design and build awesome, consumer web, and mobile experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create high-quality designs that will help the end-user realize greater value from their web or mobile experience.
- Support user experience research and testing: interview live users of the client’s website or app, help develop personas and conduct research that provides a clear understanding of how design, site architecture, and content can impact the user’s experience.
- Meet project goals and deadlines including being a part of regular meetings and collaborating with the rest of the team.
- Have knowledge of design and accessibility best practices
- Assist peers by participating in ad hoc work reviews
- Performs other duties as assigned that are reasonably within scope of this position.

Minimum Requirements:
- Have a college degree or a similar degree of life experience
- Have 2 years of work experience in digital product design
- Be an expert using industry-standard design software like Figma, Sketch, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Have experience doing UI design on multiple web and mobile projects
- Have some experience with atomic design or a similar component-based approach
- Understand the principles and practice of Mobile First and Responsive web design
Experience designing for healthcare-related products or services is a plus.
Work environment:
Modeans are able to work at any location in Virginia, Tennessee, or North Carolina, unless as otherwise required by job responsibilities. We offer modern offices located in Nashville, TN and Blacksburg, VA. Our office provides an indoor space with moderate temperatures and noise levels. This allows employees to choose a fully-office, fully-remote, or hybrid work experience. Employees may occasionally need to travel to our offices or other locations for items such as training or client visits. We will also provide employees with tools to do their job at home as well as in the office.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the duration of the workday. Individuals must have the ability to constantly operate a computer. Must have the ability to converse with and exchange information to clients and coworkers both in person and through a computer. Capable of occasionally transporting items of 10 lbs or less to and from the office.
