In consultation with the PROPEL Program Administrator, the PROPEL Program Assistant uses professional concepts to coordinate, track and report postbaccalaureate scholar progress, national programmatic data, and assist with event coordination and logistics.
The PROPEL Program Assistant provides varied services to postbaccalaureate scholars, faculty, students, and department / school / college management. Works on moderately complex issues. Receives assistance on more complex issues.
The PROPEL Program Assistant involves a range of scholar services duties and responsibilities for an academic department. Provides assistance to the program administrator, faculty directors, faculty, national partners and scholars in recruitment, admissions, scholar orientation and events, and related programs.
The position must be able to work independently and will report to the PROPEL Program Administrator. PROPEL is a postbaccalaureate training program with approximately 120 scholars and the National PROPEL network includes five PROPEL sites and five potential PROPEL sites. The incumbent will assist the Program Administrator with day-to-day operations including support to admissions and recruitment, courses, curricular events such as literature review and seminars, scholar tracking, event planning, meeting scheduling and national partner communications, reimbursements and program listservs, contact lists and websites.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $29.05 - $53.50 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Graduate Medical Sciences Unit (GMU) provides centralized financial management, reporting and oversight over the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) Graduate Program, the Developmental Stem Cell Biology (DSCB) Graduate Program, the Neuroscience Graduate Program, the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), the PROPEL Post-Baccalaureate Program and the CIRM Training Program.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, and UCSF and external vendors Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, faculty and students verbally and in writing Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs Knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives Knowledge of graduate application requirements and timelines Prior experience with undergraduate or graduate level curricular affairs Prior event planning experience Prior experience coordinating groups of volunteers or students
