Electrical Engineer
to support our subcontractor and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) client based out of
Washington, DC . The candidate must have experience in Radio Frequency (RF) engineering, frequency coordination and management, and spectrum management to directly support FAA stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and technical teams in coordinating spectrum usage and resolving issues. Responsibilities: Provide Radio Frequency and Spectrum Engineering, including: Engineer and coordinate frequency assignments to avoid RF interference and ensure system compatibility across the National Air Space (NAS). Conduct Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and interference assessments for new or modified frequency assignments. Evaluate spectrum congestion and engineer solutions for optimal frequency performance. Ensure compliance with NTIA Redbook, FAA policies, and federal spectrum regulations. Perform 5/10-year assignment reviews and audits of government frequency databases (e.g., GMF) to validate assignment integrity. Technical Analysis & Documentation:
Analyze RF system characteristics and airspace usage to assess frequency compatibility. Prepare engineering analyses, coordination summaries, safety cases, and technical reports. Utilize RF analysis and simulation tools, including Spectrum Analyzer, Spectrum XXI, Signal Generators, Visualyse, MATLAB, iRCAS, or equivalent software.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work directly with FAA stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and technical teams to coordinate spectrum usage and resolve issues. Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Participate in cross-functional engineering and policy working groups related to spectrum management:
Microwave links Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Counter-UAS Link-16 (military frequency)

Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Air-to-Ground (A/G) communications Aviation Surveillance (ADS-B, radar, multilateration) NAVAIDs Microwave links Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Counter-UAS Link-16 (military frequency)
Required Qualifications: Experience with one or more of the following:
LMR, aviation surveillance, air-to-ground communications, NAVAIDs, microwave, Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) integration, Counter-UAS, or Link-16.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to commute to
: 800 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20590 Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of Public Trust Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3+ years of prior relevant experience in Radio Frequency (RF) engineering, frequency coordination and management, or spectrum management, or an Associate's Degree in a related field (Electronics, Telecommunications) In lieu of a degree, additional years of experience are required. Graduates of a Spectrum Management course of study or military classification/specialty codes (e.g., AFSC 3D1X4, MOS 25E) may be accepted in lieu of a degree. 4+ years of prior relevant experience Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of Public Trust Location:
800 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20590 Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of spectrum management within the National Airspace System (NAS). Knowledge of frequency management practices, including engineering, assignment, and protection of radio frequencies, and the National Telecommunication and Information Administration (NTIA) Redbook. Knowledge of and experience with various frequency policy organizations, including National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Interdepartmental Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC), associated sub-committees, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Radio Frequency modeling and simulation, as well as database engineering tools, such as Spectrum XXI, MATLAB, Visualyse, and the FAA's Automated Frequency Management system. Ability to perform Free-Space Path Loss (FSPL) calculations, Link Budgets, dBW/dBm/Watt conversions. Civil or military aviation expertise.
