The VP – Technology/IT Counsel is responsible for providing IT and technology legal advice and counsel across a sophisticated and dynamic enterprise. This position will lead an existing team in connection with company initiatives, primarily in support of the Commercial, Data and Analytics, Brand Marketing and IT teams. This position also provides privacy and data security advice and counsel in conjunction with Inspire’s privacy and data security legal team. Key responsibilities include leading an existing team supporting all IT and technology agreements, overseeing contract negotiations, drafting, and review of complex brand and enterprise-wide technology contracts, analyzing legal risks for new and existing technology initiatives, providing enterprise-wide advice on privacy and data security, counseling and collaborating with cross-functional units, promoting change efforts impacting long-term IT, Commercial and marketing goals, managing outside counsel as needed, drafting and negotiating non-IT business contracts, supporting other projects and initiatives, working with legal leadership on strategic plans, and providing thought leadership on technological developments and innovations. Education and experience qualifications include a JD from an accredited U.S. law school, license to practice law, 10+ years of experience, and significant expertise in IT/Technology and commercial agreements. Required skills include broad expertise in IT/technology contracting, familiarity with privacy and data security, experience communicating legal strategies to non-lawyers, and counseling cross-functional business units. Preferred skills include experience with franchisors or large franchisees, restaurant or hospitality industry experience, in-house legal experience, knowledge of restaurant/hospitality technology, and leadership experience in a dynamic environment.
