Vice President of Civil Construction
to lead all aspects of operational execution—estimating, field operations, project management, safety, and engineering. With a strong backlog, an incredible team, and the opportunity to help drive long-term succession, this role is ideal for a proven operations leader in underground utility work who is ready to own and scale a high-performance team. This confidential executive role reports directly to the President and plays a critical role in stewarding the next chapter of growth. Key Responsibilities Oversee all construction operations across Michigan, Indiana, and Northern Ohio Set operational strategy and lead senior-level estimating, field, safety, and engineering teams Serve as a strategic partner to the President and executive team Build scalable systems and infrastructure for long-term growth Project Execution Manage $10M–$50M+ heavy civil water/sewer/stormwater projects Implement project tracking systems for margin, schedule, safety, and equipment utilization Lead through jobsite challenges with urgency and data-driven solutions Oversee estimating team, ensure bid accuracy, and maintain a healthy backlog Align preconstruction with operational capacity People Development Mentor and hire cross-functional leaders in field and office Lead with humility while reinforcing accountability and ownership culture Guide a multigenerational workforce through leadership transition Inform company strategy through market insights and operational performance Ideal Candidate Profile 10+ years of experience in operational leadership within underground utility construction Proven track record managing large-scale municipal/DOT wet utility projects ($10M–$50M+) Strong leadership presence with a passion for developing high-performing teams Skilled in job costing, estimating strategy, and field integration Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (P.E. preferred but not required) Grounded, hands-on leader with the humility to listen and the clarity to drive outcomes Willing to relocate to Jackson, MI and invest in the long-term vision of a legacy-minded contractor Confidential Process This search is being conducted
