Progression Action Sports Manager
Location: Park City, Utah Woodward Park City, located just 20 minutes from Salt Lake City, is a year-round world-class action sports facility with a culture that comes straight from our main product: Fun. The Progression Action Sports Manager is a key leader within Woodward Park City's Progression Team, reporting directly to the Director of Progression. This role is responsible for the overall execution and enhancement of lesson operations, including strategic planning, daily operations, staff development, customer service, and risk management. Key Responsibilities: Strategic & Planning Duties: Assist the Progression Director in designing and refining all learning programs to ensure a high-quality experience. Identify and implement improvements to enhance the overall guest and staff experience at Woodward. Develop and communicate staff schedules per business needs. Support the training and ongoing development of new and current coaches. Collaborate with the other Progression Manager to align operations and enhance efficiency. Partner with Supervisors to enhance coaching models, improve staff retention, and refine training. Coordinate with other departments to support broader business objectives. Operational Duties: Implement innovative training strategies, guest experience standards, and coaching progressions to enhance overall performance and drive improvement. Lead and support supervisors, leads, and coaches in daily operations. Ensure all action sports zones are opened and closed properly and on time. Promote and ensure the safety of guests and staff at all times. Oversee maintenance and repair needs for equipment and features. Foster strong relationships with staff, guests, and the local community. Act as a professional, enthusiastic representative of Woodward and action sports. Resolve employee and guest concerns promptly and effectively. Provide effective communication and motivation across all age groups. Monitor on-hill and indoor coaching to ensure safety and quality standards are upheld. Administrative Duties: Manage and approve payroll entries and staffing in alignment with budget and volume. Recruit, hire, onboard, and off-board employees. Conduct mid-season and end-of-season performance evaluations. Maintain accurate program and employee records. Enforce behavioral standards, including recognition and corrective actions as needed. Participate in and contribute to cross-departmental initiatives. Adapt quickly to operational changes and assume new responsibilities as needed. Basic Qualifications: Able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings in an all-season, outdoor environment Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, twisting, pushing, pulling) Must pass a background check upon offer acceptance Completion of SafeSport training (post-hire) Minimum 4 years' experience working with children and/or teens At least 3 years in a leadership role, with experience managing staff performance Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) A letter of recommendation and three work-related references are required Advanced skills in snow sports, mountain biking, trampoline, or action sports Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of leadership experience in a ski or snowboard school 5+ years teaching action sports (e.g., snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, BMX, mountain biking, trampoline, gymnastics, parkour) Relevant certifications (e.g., PSIA-AASI, USASA, PMBIA, BICP, USAG, USSA) CPR, First Aid, and AED certification Experience in a camp or multi-sport instructional setting Familiarity with programs such as Flaik, RTP, Workday, or similar scheduling/payroll systems You make us Woodward.
