As a Senior Materials Engineer you will apply knowledge of materials science to develop materials for nuclear applications, translating engineering requirements into test plans and development of test plans and preparation of engineering analyses, calculations, and reports. You will report to the Materials and Fuel Rod Design Manager. This role is onsite, located in Churchill, PA. No sponsorship or relocation is offered. Key Responsibilities
Verify work of other engineers on assignments that range from basic to complex. Provide technical guidance and direction to and collaborate with other entities such as national laboratories, universities, and industry groups. Bring engineering rigor to resolution of problems, requiring prior knowledge and literature review within given discipline. Support development of advanced materials and manufacturing processes. Support hands-on material testing programs in a test lab environment. Testing ranges from mechanical testing, autoclave corrosion testing and materials and chemical characterization. Interface with customers, national labs, and universities for collaborative development programs to develop advanced materials and work with external testing laboratories. Participate in multi-discipline groups or teams to accomplish desired goals. Conduct statistical analysis of test data results. Develop and deliver presentations to communicate status, problem resolution or promote related business products. Qualifications
5+ years of experience Bachelor's degree in engineering required, with a preference toward Materials Science or Chemical Engineering Experience with zirconium-based alloys is ideal Orientation towards achieving Customer Success Technical writing ability Why Westinghouse?
