The Skills Trade Training Assistant supports the Skilled Trades Trainers in training program participants in basic construction skills and knowledge. This position provides classroom support, safety oversight, and limited hands-on experience for Goodwill's Skilled Trades program. The Skills Trade Training Assistant assists the Skills Trades Trainers in ensuring trainees are knowledgeable about basic safety, hand and power tools, construction math, construction drawings, as well as "soft skills" necessary to thrive in the skilled trades industry. Additionally, this position helps coordinate opportunities for trainees to learn more about entry-level jobs in the community related to general labor and skilled trades. The person in this position will assist in all aspects of administrative paperwork and documentation related to the program and the participants. The Skilled Trades Training Assistant will promote a positive work environment that celebrates our vision, mission, and core values of teamwork, respect, uprightness, and empowerment in every action and interaction with team members, donors, customers, management, and persons served. Essential Functions: Provide hands-on support in all areas of Skill Trades. Responsible for multiple administrative duties, including but not limited to having all student handouts copied and ready to disperse prior to class start, having all testing materials copied and ready to disperse, and making sure all homework, assignments, and tests are graded and accounted for. Prepares class materials and ensures thorough and exact preparation. Must be at the training facility a minimum of 30 minutes before the class starts to prepare. Keeps up with inventory and maintains lists of materials needed for upcoming classes. Supports management in building projects to help Goodwill's mission. Maintains composure and assists in resolving conflicts as they arise. Assists with teaching the curriculum provided and is prepared to take over teaching responsibilities in the event the instructor is out for any reason. Establishes personal relationships with students to help them achieve their goals. Follows up with students on placement. Keeps work area clean daily. Other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications: Required Skills: High School diploma or GED certificate. Minimum of 1 year experience in construction with an advanced skillset in at least 1 of the following: Rough Framing, Finish Carpentry, Drywall, Electrical, Plumbing, Solar Installation, or Welding. Knowledge / Skills: Current and valid drivers' license is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong presentation and public speaking abilities are required. Knowledge of educational programs, academic requirements, and admission procedures. Familiarity with CRM or ATS systems for data management. A customer-focused and student-centric approach. An understanding of career technical careers and market dynamics. Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License: OSHA 30 is preferred.
